Thank you to everyone that entered this year's Young People's Creative Writing Contest! We had over 600 entries this year -- wow! Below is a full list of winners, and attached are scanned copies of the winning entries. Winners will be honored in an award ceremony on Friday, August 28, 7 pm, at the Hardesty Regional Library's Connor's Cove Theatre. All are welcome to attend the ceremony and hear author Sharon Draper speak about writing, books, and her life as an author. Congratulations to all the winners!

Brochures are available at all libraries, but here's what you need to know:

  • Contest is for ages 10-18
  • 3 age groups: 10-12, 13-15, 16-18
  • 4 categories: poetry, short story, informal essay, short play, and comix. 
  • Contestants may enter more than one category, but only one manuscript per category.
  • Entries accepted May 1 – June 5

Sign-ups for the 2015 Teen Team have begun. Stop by your local library or click here for more information about the program.

Join the 2018 Teen Team!

TEEN TEAM volunteers assist librarians with Tulsa City-County Library activities during the annual library Summer Reading Program and get hands-on job experience. 2018 Teen Team applications are attached below. Interested teens can fill out an application (attached below) and return it to the library location where they are interested in volunteering.

Applicants should be: 

♦ 13-15 years old

♦ Able to work for several hours a week this summer at a Tulsa City-County Library .

♦ Interested in gaining job experience, helping your local library, working with children and having fun!
