Do you NaNoWriMo? November is National Novel Writing Month. "It's a fun, seat-of-your-pants writing event where the challenge is to complete an entire novel in just 30 days. " Last year 300,000 people participated in the NanoWriMo challenge. NaNoWriMo has a Young Writers Program taking place throughout November that is self-paced and features advice from well known authors. To participate, visit http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/ . Brain Storms 2012

Winners of the 2012 Young People's Creative Writing Contest Short Play category saw their visions come to life at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center on October 20th! The PAC presented selections from all 12 award-winning plays. An accomplished staff of University of Tulsa Theater Department students performed the plays under the direction of Michael Wright, Applied Associate Professor of Creative Writing, Theatre & Film. At the conclusion of the event, each winner received a certificate and took a picture with the director and cast. Thank you to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust, Williams, ONEOK, and the Meinig Family Foundation for making this experience possible for young Tulsa writers!
